All runners/walkers/kids are welcome! This is a family-friendly event with a competitive aspect for more serious runners who are racing for glory, fame, and a free guided trip on Exit Glacier (donated by Exit Glacier Guides).
The race will start at the Tonsina trail-head parking lot at Lowell Point (please carpool as parking is limited, or if you do drive out please make sure to pay the small parking fee to help support our great Caines Head State Recreation Area). The course goes out along the Tonsina/Caines Head trail past the first bridge and finishes on Tonsina Beach. This will be different from years past because it is no longer an out-and-back course! Now the course ends at the beach so everyone can enjoy the area after they finish, hang out by the water, grab some food and drinks at the post-race celebtration/awards, and then walk back to the parking lot at their own pace.
The course will be well marked with flagging and signs, and does cross some steams.
*Please do not cut corners on any portion of the trail by taking 'shortcuts' through the switchbacks! This erodes and ruins the trail that so many people have worked hard to maintain, is unsportsmanlike, and could cause us to lose the trail permit for the race.
